Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A three-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district on Sunday, triggering angry protests by local residents who blocked the Mathura–Bareilly road and clashed with the police. According to officials, the incident occurred around 3 pm in the Mursan area when Yash (3), a resident of the Madheya locality, was allegedly hit by a car. He was immediately rushed to the district hospital and later referred to a higher medical centre in Aligarh, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the child’s death, enraged residents gathered outside the Mursan police station and blocked the Mathura–Bareilly road, demanding strict action against the accused. As evening progressed, the crowd swelled, and some protesters allegedly picked up stones from a nearby railway track and hurled them at the police station. Police said heavy force from multiple police stations was deployed to control the situation, which was brought under control after some time.
Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said the car driver and conductor were arrested immediately after the accident and the vehicle was seized. However, protesters were demanding that the accused be handed over to them. “In connection with the stone-pelting incident, three persons have been identified and arrested. The situation is now under control,” the SP said.
